    The bond that linked man to nature and particulary to the vegetal world was indeed very strong in antiquity. The use of plants was applied in every sphere of daily life: Plant were used for food, textile, cosmetics, religious, and above all things for healing purposes. The knowldege of ancient botanics contributes to cast a light and thus have a better understanding on sociability, economy and thought of ancient Pompeii and its inhabitants.
